First GMM of 2013

First GMM of 2013

From: Sis Beth A. Wong, President
Subject: 1st GMM, Feb 9, 2013
Place: 1011 Arlington Blvd Arlington, VA 22209

On behalf of the executive officers and BOD, I want to thank personally those who attended our first GMM held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Sis Nenette’s place in Arlington VA. The turnout of attendees was high among our members. This willingness to attend shows the commitment and dedication to participate. A healthy discussion of issues, relevant and important to APODCAA, transpired.

The membership had a productive, civil; more importantly, respectful exchanges of opinion that turned up most of the time into lengthy discussion yet at the same time, pleasantry whim were also present, courtesy of a few wisecracking brothers. Overall, the 1st GMM went well both with the attendees, agenda and the ensuing fellowship followed where plenty of food and drinks were provided as always from our brethren and their significant others. During the fellowship we also celebrated the February birthday celebrants with a birthday cake.

In the beginning of this administration, we are sad to see Bro. Dennis Gawat, 2nd Vice President, tender his resignation for personal reasons. As President, I accepted his resignation, thereafter, a motion to hold the election was approved by the general membership. As a result, I am pleased to announce, Bro. Victor Basamot was elected unanimously to replace Bro. Dennis Gawat. His Oath taking ceremony will be held on the March GMM.

Reports and agenda were presented at the meeting. These reports includes the 2013 Induction Committee, APODCAA 2012 4th quarter financial report as audited, budget proposal for the year 2013, calendar of events and among other things. All these information provided will be posted in the website once the minutes of the meeting are available.

Related to our fundraising, APODCAA is gratified to receive its 1st donation in the amount of $200.00, courtesy of Bro. Bodgie Oasan’s fund raising initiatives, the “Super Bowl Pool”. Be on alert, Bro. Bodgie plan to hold another fundraising sometime this summer.

Again, thank you for your presence and hope to see you all again in the next GMM. Also, I want to take this opportunity to invite the rest of our members to come and attend our future GMM, participate with our service projects including our social activities in the next 2 years.

Let’s all have FRAT: Fun-feeling good while doing good; RELEVANT –responsive to the needs of our members and community; ACCESSIBLE-so everyone can participate and contribute; TOGETHER-together so we can accomplish more.

Fraternally Yours,
Sis. Beth A. Wong
